The partnership between Elida School District and the University of Northwestern Ohio continues to help international students.

Part of a course offered at UNOH, international students have the opportunity to go and speak with students at Elida Elementary School and they share the different cultures they are a part of. The course, which has gone on for five years now, aims to help international students become familiar with the community and immerse themselves in activities and people in our area. This semester, students from 11 different countries took part in the course.

"It makes a big difference," said instructor for the course, Danielle McClure. "They become much more calm and relaxed. There are students that they're going to see at camps. They'll see them at their own sporting events, vice versa, UNOH students go to the Elida events. It gives them a sense of home and allows them to acclimate better and transition to get over that culture shock."
