They have spent 30 years telling stories about their community and are looking to share those with others this weekend.

Trustees of the Cridersville Historical Society have been busy getting ready for an open house this Sunday, October 14th at the Cridersville Museum. They were founded in 1987 and like many non-profits, they depend on volunteers and members to make it all work. Sunday will also serve as a membership drive, highlighting what the museum and the historical society is all about.

"We're doing a special open house event to invite people in to see the museum, to see the kind of work that we do and the stories about Cridersville's past, history in general, to show them how fun it could be to become involved in local history and hopefully allow us to have new members join our organization," said Greg Myers, Cridersville Historical Society President.

The open house is this Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the museum at 111 West Sugar Street right behind the Village Hall parking lot. There will be pioneer craft demonstrations, vintage children's games, a tasting table of old-fashioned recipe samples, and tours of the museum. There will also be a presentation about the Shawnee Indian tribes that once lived in the area.
