With the election just days away, Republican nominee for governor Mike DeWine made a stop in Lima to talk about the issues.

DeWine spoke to Allen County Republicans about his stance on issues from job growth and regulations to his plans to put an educational focus on early childhood development. He also spoke out strongly against State Issue 1, a contrast to his opponent Democratic nominee Richard Cordray's support for it earlier this year. DeWine says he has other ideas on how to fix the drug problem across Ohio.

"We have a 12 point plan that we know will make a big difference just based on prevention, education," said DeWine. "It's based on treatment and it's based on doubling down, frankly, against the Mexican drug cartels who are bringing this stuff into Ohio so there's a big contrast between where Cordray is and where I am."

Representatives from the Ohio Democratic Party did show up to protest DeWine at the event. They brought along with them a giant fake check for $2.6 million dollars to represent the money they say he took from Big Pharma and insurance giants.
