News of the resignation of Attorney General Jeff Sessions brought protesters out on the Square Thursday night (11/8/18).

The protest by AHEAD: Allen and Hardin for Election Action and Democracy is a part of a nationwide effort started by MoveOn.org. They are rallying their support of special counsel Robert Mueller and calling on Sessions' Chief of Staff Matt Whitaker, who will be acting in Sessions' place and therefore in charge of the investigation, to recuse himself due to his connection to a witness.

Protester Beth Sutton-Ramspeck says she is protesting because does not understand why the administration is so against the investigation if they did nothing wrong.

"If nothing happened there's no reason why they should be so concerned about it," says Ramspeck. "Why would they want to end the investigation? So it seems kind of questionable, especially since so many indictments have been brought so far and so many convictions and so there seems to be some there, there."

According to NBC News, Mueller has filed over 100 criminal charges against 32 individuals related to campaign activities, including guilty pleas from President Donald Trump's former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn and his former campaign manager Paul Manafort.
