A Hancock County organization is helping parents make the most of story time with their young children.

The Literacy Coalition of Hancock County has put out a series of short videos aimed at teaching parents ways to make reading a more interactive and educational experience for children. The videos tackle topics ranging from behavior to asking questions and reading between the words.

They say any exposure to reading is good but often can be more meaningful for their young minds.

"We felt that it was very important for parents to understand the importance of reading and not to just go through and just read the words that are the pages but to dive deeper and ask their child questions," said Shannon Andersen, Director of the Coalition. "It really helps with comprehension and it helps them to understand that there's more than just words and pictures."
