The Lima/Allen County Chamber of Commerce held their quarterly "Connections" program Thursday.

The "Connections" program brings those in management positions to learn new topics, this session being about human resources. Bob Bethel, a vice president of human resources said the subject can be complicated and people need to keep up with what's changing. He touched on the affordable care act still being in effect, changes from the "tax cuts and jobs act" as well as harassment. Bethel said since the "Me Too Movement" began it's changed human resources and he encourages leaders to step up in the workplace.

"In terms of not allowing things that have gone on for a long time to go on, just because somebody's always down that or they didn't mean anything by it," Bethel said, vice president of human resources and learning services at The Employers' Association. "People need to step up and help protect the company by making sure that harassment is not condoned within organizations."

Bethel added that human resources can help take companies in the right direction by ensuring compliance.
