Wapakoneta's Children Hometown Holiday weekend came to a close with pancakes at the Knights of Columbus.

After two days of rainy fun, families gathered to enjoy a free pancakes breakfast and some more holiday fun. Santa was there with his elves talking to children and handing out gifts. Plus, there were holiday games to add to the morning's festivities.

The Children's Hometown Holiday is a special weekend for the Wapak community because it gives every kid a chance to have some holiday fun regardless of their background.

"I think one of the things we always try to do is make sure that there's some hope for every child and everything's free to every child," said Elaine Poppe, chairman of the Children's Hometown Holiday Committee. "Children's Hometown Holidays has always been all about having a free event so that every child is treating equally in our community."

The pancakes brought over 800 people out to the Knights of Columbus building.
