Donations for Toys for Tots are still being accepted, with about 180 donation locations throughout the Lima area.

There's still a week left for people to bring their donation of toys to any of the boxes that are set up in places like government buildings, schools, fire and police departments and other locations including Your Hometown Stations. Those toys will be going to around 1,400 children this holiday season.

While the Salvation Army will accept toys for any age, they are looking for a few more toys for a specific age group.

"At the moment I think that what we need are toys from the age of 9 to 12, that little bit older age group, because those are the kids that kinda get out left out a little bit, because those toys are a little more expensive," said Paul Downing, Operations Coordinator for the Lima Salvation Army. "We get a lot of Barbies and Matchbox cars, so we don’t need a lot of those."

People are asked to get their donations in by Monday, December 10th.

We're only 5 days away from our Truckload of Toys event! Your Hometown Stations is asking for your help to make local children's Christmases a little more special this year. This Saturday, we will be collecting toys at both of the Walmart locations on the east and west side of Lima from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. The toys collected will be given to the Salvation Army as part of the Toys for Tots campaign. Make a donation and receive a Kewpee Hamburger Coupon, so help us fill our truck with toys on December 8, 2018.
