A Lima Boy Scout received honors Monday night for improving his hometown with his Eagle Scout project.

Charles Huebner decided to install a new flagpole and do some landscaping at the Lima Utilities Payment Office. He said the project took about 150 man hours to complete and was spread out over four days. Huebner said ten people, including adults and other Boy Scouts, pitched in to help, as well as Head Ranger Randi Kohli from the Parks and Recreation Department.

"This project gets you prepared for life, leadership, and in many ways, I've never understood but came to understand during the process and I feel good about it," explained Huebner.

The Lima City Utilities Payment Office was added to the national register for historic places in 2003, having once served as the Pennsylvania Railroad passenger depot. It was built in 1887 and completely renovated in 2004.
