The Lima Noon Optimist Club and the Salvation Army were out doing their annual shopping trip for Toys for Tots at Meijer Tuesday morning.

They spent several thousand dollars on toys but still need help. They are still looking for items for the older kids, around 12 years old. Both groups say this is a good way to give back and help spread a little Christmas cheer to the children.

Bill Lewis, Toys for Tots Coordinator with the Lima Noon Optimist says, "There's so many kids who need things at Christmas who wouldn't get it if it weren't for this program and this program has been around for 1947. I mean it's been around a long time. It's helped millions of millions of kids and I know over the last 16 years I've done it, we've brought in thousands and thousands of toys over the years. It's a lot of fun."

There is still time to donate.

You drop off a toy until Monday, December 10th to any of the 180 boxes that are set up in places like government buildings, schools, fire and police departments and other locations including Your Hometown Stations.
