One person was transported from a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 30 near Leatherwood Road, earlier Wednesday evening. 

Troopers called to the scene just after 5:30 p.m. arriving to find a semi had slammed into a parked construction truck. They say the semi, driven by 45-year-old Adnan Perenda of Fort Wayne, was eastbound in the right lane, with the left lane closed due to construction. Perenda drifted into the closed portion of the road, striking the construction vehicle and a guardrail. Perenda was taken the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The truck was unoccupied at the time of the crash and no construction workers were injured. 

The crash remains under investigation.

American Township – The Lima Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating an injury crash, which occurred on December 5, 2018 at approximately 5:31 PM.  The crash occurred on US Route 30 near Leatherwood Road in Allen County.

A 2005 Volvo semi, driven by 45 year old Adnan Perenda of Fort Wayne, Indiana was eastbound on US Route 30 and traveling in the right lane.  An unoccupied 2011 Ford F-250 pick-up truck was parked on the berm in the left lane.  The left lane was closed due to road construction. Mr. Perenda drifted from the right lane and entered the closed portion of US Route 30. The semi struck the parked construction vehicle and a guardrail before coming to final rest in the median.

Mr. Perenda was transported by American Township EMS to Mercy St. Rita’s Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. No injuries were reported by construction workers.

Alcohol and drugs are not suspected. A properly adjusted safety belt was utilized during the crash, which minimized injuries.

The Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the American Township Fire and EMS, Beaverdam Fleet, Delpha Chevrolet, and Complete General Contracting Company.

The Highway Patrol reminds motorists to minimize distractions while driving and to always wear a properly adjusted safety restraint.
