1. First Step- Preheat oven to 375°
    1. 1/2 cup butter, softened
    2. 1-1/2 cups sugar
    3. 2 eggs
    4. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    5. 1-1/2 cups soft red winter wheat flour
    6. 1/2 cup baking cocoa
    7. 1 teaspoon baking soda
    8. 1/4 teaspoon salt
    9. 1/2 cup buttermilk
    10. 1/2 cup water
    11. Can use store bought or homemade icing
  2. Mix together mixture and pour it into the cupcake pan.
    1. In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in vanilla.
    2. Combine flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt. Combine buttermilk and water.
    3. Add dry ingredients to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk and water, beating well after each addition
  3. Fill paper-lined muffin cups two-thirds full.
  4. Explain to bake 15-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
  5. Cool 10 minutes before removing from pans to wire racks to cool completely.
  6. Pull finished cupcakes out and ice them.
