The Dublin woman accused of killing a St. Marys man last fall will be spending the rest of her life institutionalized in a facility in Columbus.

54-year-old Karen Fontenot was found not competent to stand trial for the murder of 56-year-old Joe Hunter. Common Pleas judge, Fredrick Pepple, ordered her to be placed in a Columbus developmental center for the rest of her life. Her mental condition will be evaluated on a regular basis and reports will be sent to Auglaize County Common Pleas Court.

In October of 2018, Hunter was found with a stab wound to the chest in his home. According to St. Marys police, Fontenot and Hunter were a couple and the stabbing was the result of an argument between the two.
