Volunteers receive a big thank you for all of the work and time they put in being mentors to local youth.

The Big Brothers Big Sisters of West Central Ohio recognized the mentors, benefactors, and volunteers who efforts make their organization a success during an appreciation dinner Thursday night. Last year they had over 500 matches in Hardin, Putnam, and Allen counties through their community and school-based program and the organization believes that the time that a Big spends with a Little could be invaluable.

“The way I look at it, a Big can provide a Little, not just with a role model, not just with encouragement but hopefully with a vision of what their life can be," said John Neville, Executive Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of West Central Ohio. "Hopefully working with the Little they can develop a pathway by which they can achieve that vision.”

The organization also handed out their first Big and Little of the Year Award to Kathleen Hilty and Baylee Aldrich in Hardin County. If you would be interested in mentoring a child, Neville says to contact the Big Brothers Big Sisters of West Central Ohio.
