The body that was found Sunday night near McComb was recently identified as that of a local man who went missing less than a month ago.
Hancock County Sheriff's Office Sergeant Jason Seem says they have identified the man as 22-year-old Ismael Velazquez, who was reported missing on December 3, 2018, by the McComb Police Department. Around 10:30 on Sunday night, Velazquez's body was found by a group of local hunters in a field south of State Route 613. Before that, he was last seen in the 300 block of Cora Street in McComb.
Both his brother and sister were notified of his death. The cause of death will not be released until the toxicology reports are finished, however Sgt. Seem says he does not suspect that there was any foul play involved.
