Press Release from the Delphos Police Department

On 7-11-2019 officers were dispatched to the 500 block of W. 4th St, to investigate a Domestic Violence incident. Officers arrived and met with a male, his mother, and his mother’s boyfriend. After speaking with all parties, it was determined that the son, 21 year old Chad Kime, had caused physical harm to a family or household member. Kime was taken into custody and transported to the Van Wert County Jail and will appear in court to face the charge of Domestic Violence.

On 7-11-2019 a female requested a report for an unauthorized use of her debit card. The female told officers that she gave her daughter her debit card to use for a small purchase. The female stated that her daughter took out more than she authorized and used the card at another location for additional purchases. It is not determined if charges will be authorized at this time.

On 7-12-2019 officers responded to the 300 block of N. Canal St, to investigate a Breaking and Entering of a business. Officers searched the business, but did not locate anyone inside. The business owner did not observe anything to be missing at this time.

On 7-13-2019 officers took a report from a male in the 600 block of Bank St. The male told officers that he was assaulted by a female who had come to his residence to visit. The male told officers that the female fled when he called the police. Officers attempted to locate the female that night, but were unable.

On 7-14-2019 officers were made aware of an active warrant out of Allen County for, 22 year old Jacob Shafer, of Delphos. Officers located Shafer and took him into custody. He was later transfer to a Deputy from the Allen County Sheriff’s Office.

On 7-14-2019 officers were sent to the 600 block of Davis St, in reference to an Ungovernable Juvenile report. Officers arrived and met with the juvenile’s mother. She advised officers that her son had left the residence without permission and had not returned. She stated that he does this frequently. The juvenile was entered into a law enforcement database as missing and will be charged with Ungovernable Juvenile.

On 7-14-2019 officers were made aware of an active warrant out of Van Wert County for 51 year old Michelle Bigelow, of Delphos. Bigelow was located and taken into custody. She was transported to the Van Wert County Jail.

On 7-17-2019 officers spoke with a female in the 500 block of Jackson St, in reference to a possible scam. The female told officers that she gave a male some money as a deposit for construction work that he had agreed to do. The female told officers that it had been four months and the repairs had not been started. She also stated that the male stopped responding to her text messages. The following day a male came to the police department to report that he too had paid this same male money for construction work that had not been started. The reports were turned over to the Detective Bureau for further investigation.

7-18-2019 an officer on patrol observed a vehicle parked behind a business on Elida Rd. during the early morning hours. The officer made contact with a male and female inside the vehicle who stated that they were only talking. The male, 20 year old Tyler Shaeffer, of Delphos, was issued a summons to appear in Lima Municipal Court to face the charge of Contributing to the Unruliness of a Minor. The female juvenile was charged with a curfew violation.

On 7-19-2019 officers were dispatched to the 700 block of S. Bredeick St, to investigate a Domestic Violence complaint. Officers arrived and made contact with a female who stated that she was assaulted by her live in boyfriend. The male had fled prior to officer’s arrival. Moments later the male, Juan Gomez, was located at another location and taken into custody. He was transported to the Van Wert County Jail.

On 7-19-2019 officers were made aware of an active warrant out of Allen County for 36 year old April Zamora of Delphos. Officers located Zamora and took her into custody. She was later turned over to a Deputy from the Allen County Sheriff’s Office.

On 7-20-2019 officers responded to a residence in the 500 block of Fort Jennings Rd, to investigate a Domestic Violence complaint. Officers arrived and met with a female who stated that her boyfriend assaulted her. The female had noticeable bruising indicating an assault. Officers located the male, 29 year old Rigoberto Hernandez Alvarez, of Delphos, and placed him in custody for Domestic Violence. Alvarez was transported to the Allen County jail.
