Press Release from the Delphos Police Department

On 5-22-2019 officers met with a male at the police department who wished to report a theft. The male told officers that a license plate was removed from his vehicle.

On 5-22-2019 officers were dispatched to the 400 block of N. Scott St. Upon arrival officers spoke with a male who stated that his ex-girlfriend had taken his van without permission and had caused damage to the interior. The male was advised of the victim filing procedure in Allen County if he wished to pursue charges.

On 5-23-2019 officers were given information about a juvenile who was reported as a missing/run-away child from the Celina area. A short time later, officers located the juvenile and he was later returned to his mother.

On 5-23-2019 officers conducting an investigation came into contact with a male who was in possession of drug abuse instruments. The male, 41 year old Adam Purdy, of Delphos, was taken into custody and transported to the Delphos Police Department. He was later released after being issued a summons to appear in Van Wert Municipal Court to face the charge of Possession of Drug Abuse Instruments.

On 5-23-2019 officers were dispatched to the 900 block of Lima Ave, to investigate an altercation. Officers observed one of the parties involved leaving the scene and initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle he was driving. Officers spoke with each person involved in the altercation and determined that no criminal charges would be pursued. The driver of the vehicle however, was issued a citation for a stop sign violation and driving the vehicle on a temporary permit without a licensed driver in the vehicle.

On 5-24-2019 officers spoke with a female who came to the police department to file a report. The female told officers that the previous night she had several guests at her house. The following morning she discovered her prescription medication had been stolen.

On 5-25-2019 an officer on patrol conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle after observing the driver commit a traffic offense. During the investigation of the traffic stop officers found that the driver, 45 year old Sherman G. Jones, of Delphos, was operating the vehicle on a suspended driver’s license. Officers also found probable cause to arrest Jones for operating the vehicle while impaired. Jones was issued a citation for an FRA Suspension and OVI. He will appear in Lima Municipal Court to face the charges.

On 5-26-2019 officers were sent to the 700 block of Euclid Ave, to take a Criminal Damaging report. Officers met with the resident there and found that subjects had hit her vehicles and garage with paint balls.

On 5-27-2019 officers took a report from a resident in the 400 block of W. Clime St. The resident reported that prescription medication was taken from the residence.
