Press Release from the Delphos Police Department
On 5-1-2019 an officer on patrol conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle. During the investigation of the traffic stop officers found the driver, 22 year old Jeremy Dunbar of Delphos, to be operating the vehicle on a suspended driver’s license. Dunbar was issued a citation for an FRA Suspension and will appear in Lima Municipal Court to face the charge.
On 5-1-2019 officers spoke with employees at a business in the 900 block of Elida Ave, in reference to a Theft. Employees stated that a male and female were in the business and had removed items from the packaging. The couple then left the business without paying for the items. The identity of the couple was not immediately known, however the incident remains under investigation.
On 5-1-2019 a female came to the police department to report a scam incident. The female told officers that she received a call from a male claiming to be from a law enforcement agency. The male told the female that she had a warrant for her arrest for failure to report for jury duty, which she knew nothing about. The male told the female that she could pay the fine by purchasing money pack cards and giving him the number off of the back. The female complied, but after further investigation, she found out that she had been the victim of a scam.
On 5-3-2019 an officer on patrol conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle after observing a registration violation. Officers made contact with the driver, 26 year old Charles Joseph Thompson of Paulding, and found that he was operating the vehicle on a suspended driver’s license. The vehicle was impounded and Thompson was issued a citation for Fictitious License Plates as well as a License Forfeiture Suspension. He will appear in Van Wert Municipal Court to face the charges.
On 5-6-2019 officers were dispatched to a residence in the 300 block of W. 6th St, for a male there threatening to harm himself. Officers located the male who requested to go to the hospital for an evaluation and treatment. The male was transported to the hospital by Delphos EMS.
On 5-6-2019 officers took a report from the Parks Superintendent in reference to a Breaking and Entering complaint at Stadium Park. Officers found that subjects had broken into the batting cage area as well as the concession stand. Some items were damaged while other items were stolen. The incident remains under investigation.
On 5-7-2019 officers met with the School Principal at Jefferson Middle School in reference to a student’s misconduct. Officers found that the student had brought a prohibited item to school. The student was disciplined by school officials and will not face any criminal charges.
On 5-8-2019 officers received information from an outside law enforcement agency about a female in their jurisdiction who was threatening to harm another female who lives in the City of Delphos. Officers located the females’ mother and advised her of the threats made about her daughter.
On 5-10-2019 officers took a report from an employee at a business on Ambrose Dr. The employee reported a Theft incident.
On 5-10-2019 officers responded to the 300 block of N. Bredeick St, in reference to a male possibly wishing to harm himself. Officers located the male and found that he needed to be transported to the hospital for a mental evaluation and treatment. Delphos EMS arrived and transported the male.
On 5-10-2019 officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of Lima Ave. for a Telecommunications Harassment complaint. Officers spoke with a female at the residence who stated that her ex-girlfriend is harassing her by e-mail after being blocked by telephone. The female requested that a criminal trespass form be made against her ex-girlfriend as well.
On 5-10-2019 an officer on patrol conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle after observing a registration violation. During the traffic stop officers also found that the driver, Dustin Lehmkuhle, was operating the vehicle on a suspended driver’s license. Lehmkuhle was issued a citation for a 12 Point Suspension and Fictitious License Plates. Lehmkuhle will appear in Van Wert Municipal Court to face the charges.
On 5-11-2019 an officer on patrol initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle after observing the vehicle being operated with an equipment failure. Officers met with three occupants in the vehicle. After obtaining consent to search the vehicle, officers found a substantial amount of possible Hashish, along with drug paraphernalia. The substance will be sent out for testing with charges being filed post testing.
On 5-12-2019 officers were dispatched to the 100 block of N. Jefferson St, to investigate a Criminal Damaging complaint. Officers arrived and found that someone had broken a glass in the complainants door.
On 5-12-2019 officers were sent to the 800 block of Superior St, for a Criminal Damaging complaint. Officers spoke with a female at the residence, and found that a window was broken out of her residence.
