President Trump gave his State of the Union address Tuesday evening.

Ohio Northern University Assistant Professor of Political Science Anne Whitesell says that the President will most likely be laying out his agenda for the coming year in the address, with topics like infrastructure possibly being covered to garner some bi-partisan support.

The address comes just after the longest government shutdown in US history, and Whitesell says that the president may try to extend a message of unity after the 35 days of the shutdown.

"He might be trying to look for more compromise, so he might bring up immigration - some of his guests are related to immigration, border patrol agents, people been affected by immigration - but it will probably be a more conciliatory tone than a divisive one," said Whitesell.
