The president of the newly formed Marathon Petroleum Corporation will help shape the economic development future of Ohio.
Governor John Kasich named Gary Heminger to the new "Jobs Ohio" Board of Directors. Heminger was appointed as president and CEO of Marathon Petroleum Corporation when it split from Marathon Oil Corporation at the beginning of this month. Heminger has worked for Marathon for last 36 years. Kasich announced 8 of the 9 member board before the first ever meeting of the board this morning.
The new semi-private board will be in charge of the economic growth in the state of Ohio and take the place of Ohio Department of Development. Proceeds from state liquor sales are being used as start-up money. Some other notable members on the Jobs Ohio board include Procter and Gamble President Bob McDonald, Bob Evans CEO Steven Davis, and President of the Ohio State University, E. Gordon Gee.
A ninth member of the board has yet to be named.
