The Ohio State Highway Patrol says that nine people died over the holiday weekend on Ohio roads.
The reporting period ran from midnight Friday morning to 11:59 Christmas night. Three of the people were not wearing a seat belt, and three were OVI related. Nine is the same number of deaths that happened over the same time period last year, and less than the 14 deaths reported in 2016.
Year to date there have been 1,046 reported fatalities on Ohio roads, which is a 10% decrease from the same time period in 2017.
