The Allen County Family and Children First Council heard more about an organization that's set up to help parents around the state.
Dana Berryman from Parent Advocacy Connection - NAMI Ohio attended the council's meeting to talk about the services her organization provides.
Ohio PAC is a parent peers support group helping parents partner with systems of care as they help their children with multi-system needs. This includes assisting parents with a variety of different areas.
"We help them navigate the juvenile justice system, education system, child welfare, developmental disabilities, and mental health; whatever help they need," said Berryman, who is the State Director for Ohio PAC. "We're different than parent mentors because we’re not trying to get them from point A to point B - but we’re parents with lived experience who can say, 'Hey I’ve been there, I understand'."
The organization provides their services in every county in the state.
