The winter weather was to blame for a series of crashes on Sunday up and down the interstate, including several in a mile-long stretch near Sidney.

Near Cridersville, a Wapakoneta trooper's cruiser was struck on I-75 Sunday night while he investigated a crash. 36-year-old Wesley Ditto responded to a single-vehicle accident on northbound 75. He used his cruiser to close the left lane and turned on his overhead emergency lights. While a wrecker was loading the crashed vehicle to get it off the highway, Ditto spotted a car spinning out of control and coming right at him. He tried to move his cruiser but it was struck from behind. 32-year-old Clinton Anderson of Fairfield, Ohio, was issued a citation for failure to maintain control of his vehicle.

Everyone involved in the accident was checked at the scene by the Cridersville EMS and released.
