President Donald Trump will be in Lima next week to visit the country's only tank manufacturing facility, the Joint Systems Manufacturing Center.
Confirmation came down late Thursday morning of the trip from White House director of regional communications, Weston Loyd. The White House says President Trump will tour the JSMC on Wednesday to reaffirm his commitment to the United States military and the American worker. Earlier this year, the Pentagon announced $714 million dollars would go to upgrade M1 Abrams tanks at the plant, which the White House says is leading to the hiring of hundreds of new workers.
"President Trump has been a very vigilant supporter of the United States military from day one and I think this speaks volumes that he literally wants to come to Allen County, visit the tank plant, and have an opportunity to meet some of the men and women that build the fine equipment that protects our troops overseas and here at home," said Keith Cheney, Allen County Republican Chair.
After delivering remarks at the JSMC, President Trump will be heading to a re-election fundraiser in Canton.
