Media Release from Ohio State Highway Patrol 11/9/19
Marion Township – The Lima Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two vehicle injury crash which occurred on State Route 309 east of Delphos, in Allen County.
On November 8, 2019, at approximately 7:01 P.M., troopers responded to a report of a head-on collision. Joseph L. Gossman, age 26, of Delphos, was operating a 2001 Honda Accord while traveling west on SR 309. Gossman traveled left of the center line into the path of oncoming traffic. Katherine M. Buettner, age 53, of Fort Jennings, was operating a 2015 Chevrolet Traverse while traveling east on SR 309 when she was struck head-on by Gossman’s vehicle. Gossman’s vehicle came to final rest in the roadway. Buettner’s vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway and overturned, coming to final rest on its right side.
Joseph Gossman was extricated from his vehicle by mechanical means, and was transported by American Township EMS with serious, but non-life threatening injuries. A passenger in Gossman’s vehicle, Olivia J. Gossman, age 28, of Delphos was transported by American Township EMS for reported minor injuries. Katherine Buettner was transported by Delphos EMS with reported minor injuries. A passenger in Buettner’s vehicle, Keith E. Buettner, age 53, of Fort Jennings, was transported by Delphos EMS for reported minor injuries. All four occupants were transported to Mercy Health St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.
All occupants involved in the crash were reportedly wearing seatbelts. Drug impairment is suspected to be a factor in the crash for Joseph Gossman.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol reminds motorists to never drive impaired and to always wear a properly adjusted seatbelt.

A vehicle crash shuts down State Route 309 and West State Road for at least two hours Friday(11/8/19) evening. The accident happened just after 7 p.m. Details are still few but we know four people were transported from the crash. Officials say one person is in serious condition. State troopers and crews from American Township Fire were on the scene cleaning up debris and clearing the vehicles. The crash is still under investigation.
