Volunteers and workers at the West Ohio Food Bank braved the rain Thursday afternoon to hand out food to those in need. The food bank held a food distribution for those who met the federal poverty guidelines. Foods they were handing out included fresh produce, frozen items, bread, and other non perishables. The food bank CEO says they were able to give out over 33 thousand pounds of food at another distribution a few weeks ago, and today they hoped to give out even more.
"We were aware of showers, we were hopeful that we could beat that but we're here to be able to be out here to help people whatever the need is and so thankful and blessed like I shared that we can really have the food in and our role here at the West Ohio Food Bank is ensuring we're getting the food out," said Linda Hamilton, West Ohio Food Bank CEO.
Volunteers from the Allen County Emergency Response Team, Coleman Services and students from OSU Lima and Allen East were also there to help hand out food.
