WHEMCO Ohio Foundry has reached a settlement with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, following an accident last year that sent four people to the hospital.

After initially being fined nearly $30,000, the two parties agreed WHEMCO would pay a fine close to $21,000. An explosion was reported on February 2nd, 2018, prompting a response from the Shawnee Township Fire Department. According to OSHA records, while trying to pour molten metal into a furnace a faulty ladle caused a spill of 9,600 tons of molten metal. Four people suffered various burns from the splatter. Three were hospitalized for two days, another was hospitalized for two weeks and went through rehabilitation.
