Woman enters not guilty plea after alleged bribery at county jail

A Lafayette woman was arraigned on charges relating to bribery.

46-year-old Laurie Watt appeared in Putnam County Common Pleas Court and entered a plea of not guilty. She was indicted on one count of bribery, a third-degree felony, and dereliction of duty,  a second-degree misdemeanor. Watt is a former employee of the Putnam County Sheriff's Office and allegedly conducted a bribe to obtain time alone with an inmate. She also is accused of bringing contraband into the jail such as food and drinks.

Her first pretrial is scheduled for June 12th.
