Service clubs in Van Wert spent the afternoon preparing for the opening day of Christmas at Fountain Park. Members of the Van Wert Service Club and the optimist clubs hammered dozens of stakes into the ground in hopes of better securing the inflatables and Christmas trees in the park. This is all to prepare for the windy weather expected on Wednesday. On Wednesday, families will have the opportunity to check out the inflatable reindeer, Santa, snowmen and hundreds more. This is the first year of Christmas at Fountain Park. The past five years it was held in Smiley Park. Organizers enjoy hosting this event every year because of the joy it brings families and children.
