Agriculture center coming to Wright State Lake Campus

Wright State University's Lake Campus is growing and expanding.  New programs including nursing and food sciences are being offered.  Now, the university is planning for a major upgrade to the agriculture program.

The campus sits between farm fields and Grand Lake St. Marys-- that location makes it the perfect spot to house a new agriculture education and water quality center.  Campus officials will submit proposals for architectural drawings in a few weeks, plan to start construction in about a year, and want to house students in about two years.

The $3 million facility will hold laboratories, classrooms and offices.  About 50 students are already part of the agriculture program on campus and officials believe the new building will increase those numbers.

The center will be dedicated to sustaining farming in West Central Ohio while fostering innovation for water quality research and collaborations.

The lake campus has about 1300 students.  Campus officials are already planning the next phase of growth.  This time in its medical programs.
