Lima Memorial Health System Hosted its 21st Annual EMS Awards Banquet

Area emergency medical service personnel honored Monday by Lima Memorial Health Systems.

Each year this health care provider holds a banquet for EMS workers. It's part of an effort to thank and honor them for their lifesaving work prior to patients or victims arriving at the emergency room.

Event organizers say more than 300 individuals representing 23 EMS departments are invited to the dinner. "We want them to relax and feel appreciated. EMS is an under appreciated hobby per say, for a lot of people, a lot of them do it volunteer they are not paid to do this service. However, we also have the paid departments that do it full time. So we are just here for a night of relaxation and to basically spoil our EMS providers."

Jean Searson and Sue Williams were honored posthumously with lifetime achievement awards. The Volunteer Department of the Year is the Beaverdam Richland Fire Department. EMS Educator of the Year was awarded to Doug Corwin from Lima Fire Department. Medical Run of the Year went to Lafayette Jackson Fire Department, Cardiac Run of the Year was awarded to USV Roundhead EMS, Trauma Run of the Year went to Bath Township Fire Department. Wapakoneta Fire Department was awarded the Fire Department of the Year.
