PotashCorp Donates $100K to Lima Memorial Foundation

Lima Memorial received a generous donation this morning to build a state-of-the-art education lab. Potash Corporation presented the hospital with a $100,000 check to create an advanced training facility for healthcare providers, EMS and students. The training site will be equipped with high-tech simulation equipment, including mannequins that can be programmed to exhibit life-like patient behaviors and symptoms. The president and CEO of Lima Memorial says this will be beneficial to the community as a whole.

"This is a great opportunity for us in the partnership with Potash to make a difference to the community because the mannequin is going to be huge in terms of being able to educate not just the people here at Lima Memorial, people at Potash, but people of the community, so it allows us to focus on community safety and education. And I think that's the key part of it, it's a community initiative," said Mike Swick, Lima Memorial President and CEO.

Officials with potash say this highlights the key principles of both companies.

"This was just a great way to emphasis the core values of both of our organizations to support this state-of-the art education training simulator," said PotashCorp Lima plant General Manager Todd Sutton.

Lima Memorial will be inviting many organizations throughout the community to use the facility once its opens.
