More information is known about the remains found along I-75 between Bluffton and Findlay last Monday.

On Friday, the Ohio State Highway Patrol identified the remains found in a sleeping bag on October 1st were of a missing Melvindale, Michigan man, 39-year-old David Carter Sr.  Carter was considered missing one day before an ODOT worker found the sleeping bag while mowing that stretch of the highway. DNA testing confirmed Carter's identity. According to Fox 2 in Detroit, other remains of Carter were discovered on October 3rd near his apartment in Melvindale. The police department there arrested a person of interest in the homicide case.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol has positively identified David D. Carter Sr., 39, of Melvindale, Mich., as the victim found along Interstate 75 on October 1. 

On Monday, an Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) worker found a sleeping bag containing human remains along I-75 near milepost 149 in Eagle Township. ODOT immediately notified the Patrol and troopers began an investigation.

Wednesday, the Melvindale Police Department contacted the Patrol in response to a law enforcement bulletin. Officials stated information contained within the bulletin partially matched the description of a missing person. DNA testing later confirmed the match.

The investigation into the death of Mr. Carter continues at this time. Anyone with information should contact the Ohio State Highway Patrol at (419) 423-1414 or the Melvindale Police Department at (313) 429-1070.
