LIMA, OH (WLIO) - It was a busy start for area fire crews who battled a three-alarm fire on the north side of Lima Wednesday morning.
The calls came into American Township Fire Department around 7:15 of a large barn up in flames at 5101 North Cole Street. They arrived to find the structure fully engulfed by fire, and smoke could be seen miles away. Mutual aid was called in from various departments across Allen and Putnam counties, and extra water had to be brought in via tankers. Crews say there was farm equipment on fire inside the barn, and fire officials say that cows and dogs died in the fire. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
