Area partners with Activate Allen County announced the 2023 to 2026 community health improvement plan which addresses key health concerns including housing stock, substance abuse, and food insecurities. Allen County was among several counties in Ohio to see record overdose deaths in 2022. Community leaders say their goal is to create equal access to healthy environments and support programs.

The Allen County Board of Elections is open for in-person early voting on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through the 27th, with extended hours on the week before the election. Those who wish to vote by mail must register request forms by October 31st, and all mail-in ballots must be postmarked by Monday, November 6th. With two important state issues and the local races, election officials in Allen County expect a higher turnout for an off-year election.

ODOT says the number of injury-related crashes at 309 and Thayer Road has dropped from fifty-eight percent to just twenty-five percent. The roundabouts not only serve to slow traffic approaching the intersection, but they also prevent more serious crashes by moving vehicles in the same direction.

When people think of the medical field, doctors and nurses often come to mind. A Healthcare Futures Day is here to show area high schoolers that the future is wide open when it comes to opportunities in health care. Ohio State Lima partnered with Mercy Health-St. Rita's to hold the event for the second year in a row. We spoke to a few students to hear what kind of healthcare career they could see themselves in.

The Bath Fire Department responded to the 9-1-1 call around 9:40 p.m. and found the maintenance building and two adjacent sheds fully engulfed. Crews were on the scene for about 4 hours. Crews were called back out just after 7 a.m. Wednesday morning when a neighbor reported smoke coming from the scene. Around a dozen mowers and all equipment to maintain the course were destroyed.
