LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - Lima residents will have an opportunity to share their thoughts on community safety during an in-person open house next Tuesday.

The city is continuing work on its Safer Lima Safety Action Plan, which aims to provide safe streets and roads for everyone.

In 2024, Lima was awarded $500,000 from the Ohio Department of Transportation to develop the plan. It will examine traffic statistics and residents’ concerns to identify safety issues and possible roadway improvements.

Ian Kohli, the city of Lima Engineer, says officials want to hear directly from residents about their experiences traveling throughout the city.

“The data we have right now is based on crash reports. So we want the public’s input about where they travel in Lima, how they travel, walk, bike, drive a car, bus, and to also learn from their experiences where they feel unsafe,” said Kohli.

The open house is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 10, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Bradfield Community Center.

A live virtual open house is also scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 2. A link to participate can be found on the city of Lima’s website.
