The Wildcats entered the matchup tied for second place with Miller City at 5-1 in league play, trailing only Columbus Grove’s 6-0 record.
Kalida took care of business Friday night, defeating Continental 54-29.
Kalida, which has won 15 of the past 18 meetings against the Pirates, set the tone early despite falling behind in the opening quarter.
Owen Grime knocked down a 3-pointer to get the Wildcats on the board after an early deficit. On the next possession, Jaxon Hoffman scored at the rim off a pass inside to keep Kalida within striking distance.
Continental answered as Quinn Tegenkamp drove to the basket, faked a pass and converted a layup to give the Pirates a 10-9 lead.
Brady Thomsen followed with a putback off a missed shot to extend Continental’s advantage.
Kalida responded from beyond the arc when Nathan Kahle buried a 3-pointer to regain momentum.
The Wildcats pulled away from there, outscoring the Pirates over the final three quarters to secure the 25-point victory.
With the win, Kalida stays firmly in the league title race heading into the final stretch of the regular season.
