FINDLAY, Ohio (WLIO) — In a highly anticipated matchup between the last two unbeaten teams in the Blanchard Valley Conference, Liberty-Benton left no doubt.
The Eagles surged to a 49-point halftime lead and never looked back, shutting out Leipsic 52-0 on Friday night to take sole possession of first place in the BVC standings.
Liberty-Benton (6-0 BVC) put together a complete performance on both sides of the ball. Blake Eagleson made a key stop early in the third quarter, walling off a Viking run attempt at the line of scrimmage. Carson Click added to the defensive showcase with a tackle for loss as the Eagles swarmed to the ball all night long.
The Eagles' defense remained relentless until the final whistle, stuffing another run at the line late in the game to preserve the shutout.
With the win, Liberty-Benton now stands two games clear atop the BVC with only a few weeks remaining in the regular season.
