The Lima Police Department has made an arrest for the 2001 murder of Cardell "Bob" Beachum.
35-year-old David W. Evans, from Lima, turned himself in and confessed to the July 2nd, 2001, shooting death of Beachum. Beachum, who was 69 years of age at the time of the shooting, was closing up a business, Sports and Sorts, which was a pool hall and gambling establishment located at 1290 St. John's Avenue, when he encountered Evans when he exited his business. Neighbor and passerby's heard the shots and found Beachum shot to death in the parking lot of his business.
