Teaching children healthy lifestyle choices early in life will help them as they grow.
Activate Allen County is looking for licensed childcare providers to apply for up to a $1,000 grant to help them make their environment healthier. They will be asked to do an assessment and develop an improvement plan along with a budget to make improvements.
The challenge is underway, with applications available online at activateallencounty.com under the activated challenges tab and due by September 18th.
"We want to talk about healthy eating and have family meal plans. We want to talk about physical activity in a positive way and talk about emotions. Sometimes child care centers just need some extra money and resources to help do that. We just want to provide a little extra help and support so that these child care centers can continue to uplift children and make sure that they have the things that they need to be healthy youngsters and then future adults," explained Josh Unterbrink, Activate Allen County.
