WAPAKONETA, Ohio (WLIO) - Air-tow Trailers held its groundbreaking ceremony Tuesday morning to celebrate the expansion of its headquarters in Wapakoneta.
The $6.8 million expansion deal will add 76,000 square feet of manufacturing and operational space to the facility. The company plans to add 10 to 15 new full-time positions, while relocating 35 employees from its Botkins location. Air-tow officials say Wapakoneta's core values and access to talent LED the company to develop the facility.
"We're going to continue the investment into this town; this is just the beginning. Now this is part of our campus for Flex Machine Tools and for the trailer company," said Nick Kennedy, CEO of Air-tow Trailers. "We're constantly making acquisitions and we're going to continue to make Wapakoneta our headquarters."
The expansion is expected to generate extra economic activity, contribute to long-term growth, and create more jobs in the community.
"We start with just this project, but it ripples out through the whole community and through the county. Down to Shelby and up to Allen. It's a great thing for this area for the economics and for the livelihood of the people that want to be here," said Mayor Dan Lee.
Air-tow plans to have the construction complete by the end of this year.
