Allen County leaders answer community questions during Kiwanis meeting

LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — The Allen County commissioners took their message directly to the community Tuesday as they met with members of the Lima Kiwanis Club during a question-and-answer session.

Commissioners Cory Noonan, Brian Winegardner and Beth Seibert discussed several county topics, including the new county administrative building, electrical aggregation and county finances.

Officials said meetings with community organizations help provide accurate information directly to local residents and leaders.

“Well, it's important for us to meet with social groups like this, just to update them on what we're doing and what the county is doing, not just financially, but some other projects that we do throughout the entire county,” Winegardner said.

The Lima Kiwanis Club also announced the creation of the Robert Day Service Leadership Award in memory of Robert Day, who died unexpectedly earlier this year.

The award will be presented annually to one student in each of the club’s five leadership programs that Day strongly supported. Club officials said the programs serve more than 400 students of all ages, as well as disabled adults, throughout Lima and Allen County by teaching service and leadership skills.
