LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Allen County Treasurer Krista Bohn is reminding property owners to submit their second-half property tax payments by the new due date following changes made under House Bill 186.
Bohn said tax adjustments were made to comply with state legislation regarding the established inflation cap. Taxpayers who qualify for the credit may notice a line item labeled "Inflation Credit Cap" on their tax bill. With the new payment deadline set for next Wednesday, Bohn said residents have several convenient options for making their payments.
"On the tax due date, we do accept postmarks. So you can still come in and pay if you want that receipt in hand. You can drop it in our 24 hour mailbox as long as it's there before midnight. All of those avenues are perfectly fine. The other one is if you pay online, you can do that all the way through midnight as well, which is if you want to use a credit card or an electronic check, an e-check. Both options are available. There is a small fee to do so."
Bohn said taxpayers may pay in person, use the treasurer's 24-hour drop box before midnight on the due date or make an online payment using a credit card or electronic check. She also reminded residents who choose to mail their payment to make sure it receives a postmark from the post office, as placing it in a collection mailbox does not guarantee it will be postmarked that day.
