LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Aspiring farmers, planters and gardeners received guidance Tuesday evening on how to develop successful business models for their products.

Hosted by Central State University Extension, the agricultural business models class explored sales options ranging from direct-to-consumer to value-added and wholesale approaches. Participants arrived with initial ideas and worked to identify methods that align with their goals, available resources and target markets.

"Are you creating value for a customer that they are willing to pay for? You have to have a strategy in place that people will pay for that product or service. Can you grow the thing, in the case of agriculture, or can you produce the good or service on a consistent, regular basis? That's called feasibility, so if you got those different components: feasibility, viability, and desirability, then you got a good, solid business idea," says Eric Smith, Program Extension Associate, Central State University Extension.

LACNIP will also host a Career Success Program class with Central State on April 21 and April 28 at 5 p.m.
