LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - The city of Lima providing an update on the state of the Community Aquatic Park project as we approach the summer months.

Both the inside and outside pool areas are laid out with the siding, rails and stairs installed, as well as the retractable enclosure over the multi-purpose competition pool that can be used regardless of season.

Workers are now finishing construction on the rest of the project's interior such as locker rooms and a concession stand.

As many residents are eager for the opening of the aquatic park and seek an official opening date, Lima Deputy Public Works Director Ric Stolly says the city and their partners are making sure they check every box before setting an official date.

Lima Deputy Public Works Director Ric Stolly says the city and their partners are making sure they check every box before setting an official opening date.

"When we look at this project and we think about how important it is to the community, and opening the pool at the proper time, when it's ready, we're only going to get one shot at it and and quite honestly, we're gonna do what's best for the community," said Stolly. "We look forward to a great summer of swimming at the Lima Community Aquatic Park."

The original expectation of Memorial Day weekend for the opening of the aquatic park has been pushed back, and Stolly spoke about the price of admission and what families can expect when looking at seasonal passes.

"The facility is going to be very affordable, the facility is going to be very welcoming, and again, it's going to be very safe," said Stolly. "It's going to happen very shortly, and we've got the committee put together and actually going to be meeting to make sure that we're all on the same page with where we're going with that."
