LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — The City of Lima is seeking public input as officials prepare to determine how federal funding will be distributed throughout the community.

The city's Department of Housing and Neighborhoods will hold its third and final public hearing for this year's Community Development Block Grant and HUD HOME funding allocations.

The federal dollars help support nonprofit organizations and programs that serve low- to moderate-income Lima residents, such as the Bradfield Community Center, Soldiers of Honor and Youth Connect. City officials are encouraging residents to attend the meeting to learn how the funding may be spent and to provide feedback before final decisions are made.

"We're just looking a lot closer on our public services to make sure the programs have the sustainability and are able to budget accordingly based on what they've projected and their scope of work," said Dionne Dickey, a community development specialist.

A public written comment period will remain open through July 13. Comments can be submitted to the Department of Housing and Neighborhoods at the Lima Municipal Building.

The final public hearing will be held at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, June 25, in Lima City Council chambers. City officials say community participation is an important part of the process to ensure federal funds are directed toward programs that best serve Lima residents.
