LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Organizations teamed up Sunday afternoon to provide warm clothing and hot food to people in need in the Lima area.
Fresh n’ Faded partnered with A Hand 2 Help Foundation and Fort Wayne’s Pies Clothing Closet to host a clothing giveaway. Items were available for the entire family, including winter coats. In addition to clothing, attendees were also able to warm up with a cup of chili during the cold weather. Organizers from both Lima and Fort Wayne say the partnership has strengthened their ability to serve their communities.
“It’s like Sister Cities as to where they really care about the community, like Lima doing Fort Wayne. So bridging this, these two cities together, is really coming together as to where it could be a blessing for both cities to continue giving back. Lima is coming to Fort Wayne soon, and we going to be coming back to Lima. So, this everlasting partnership. It’s really a blessing. You know, it’s a joy to see families walking out of here with smiles on their face knowing that they could keep their kids warm now at the bus stops and going to school and going to church and work. That’s what it’s about, making sure that they have the clothes to provide for their families,” says Joe Ayers, Pie’s Clothing Closet.
“Our next advantage, January 18, here at 227 South Main Street, A Hand 2 Help Foundation, as well as Pies Clothing (Closet), we’ll be doing another giveaway of clothing. If you have donations, please feel free to drop them off downtown. Have any questions, reach out to Dre at Fresh n’ Faded Barbershop,” says Tamara Young, A Hand 2 Help Foundation.
The clothing giveaway at Fresh n’ Faded will become a monthly event. Anyone interested in donating can drop off clothing during business hours at the barbershop at 227 South Main Street.
