Community rolls strikes to help Lima Children’s Developmental Center

LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) — Community members knocked down pins Saturday to help support an organization dedicated to serving young children with developmental needs.

For about 10 years, the Children’s Developmental Center of Lima has hosted a Bowl-a-Thon fundraiser. The event featured family bowling followed by a Scotch doubles tournament, along with a basket raffle for participants.

The center works with young children who have developmental concerns, and officials say fundraising efforts like this help keep services affordable for families.

“We are privately funded. We don't receive any federal or state funding on a regular basis, so we exist primarily off of fundraisers and grants and things like that. So, things like today are very important. We're very grateful that the community continues to support this event year after year. Also, we like to have in the spring, because we have a lot of our families attend, and so it's kind of a nice way we're getting ready to wind down our school year. So we like to have some fun with them, too at this point in the year," says Elisha Reineke, Ex. Dir. Children's Developmental Center.

Those interested in supporting the organization can visit www.childrensdevelopmentalcenterlima.org or follow the center on Facebook.
