LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - Eagle Point Ministries kicked off summer in a fun and giving way with a party in the pavilion at the Lima Amphitheater downtown.

This is the third year the organization has hosted an event like this, but it’s the first time it has taken place in central Lima. The event featured plenty of activities and games for children, including soccer, face-painting and giant inflatables. Kids also had the chance to win raffle prizes such as bikes, scooters and official sports balls from Wilson. Although the prizes are a highlight, Eagle Point Ministries hopes the event teaches children the value of helping others.

"This is something that has been missing in this country. You know, we're very affluent. We want a lot of money. We want all the toys, all the trinkets, all the big houses. But God says you missed the whole point. My reason for blessing you is that you can be a blessing. That doesn't mean you can't enjoy some of your blessing. But if we would learn how to do that, there'd be nobody with a need, nobody. Our determination is to see that nobody in this city has a need," said Steve Doyle with Eagle Point Ministries.

Eagle Point Ministries has another Party in the Pavilion scheduled for Aug. 2 at the amphitheater. The event is free and open to the public.
