LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) - Three agencies are up for the Lima/Allen County Chamber of Commerce's 2026 Non-Profit of the Year award.
For 139 years, the Lima Family YMCA has been a staple in the Lima community, providing wellness programs, youth sports, childcare, and outreach initiatives. The Lima Y has collaborated with the Hardin County Family YMCA and Bluffton Family Recreation to serve more than 12,000 members by promoting youth development, healthy living, and positive change in Allen and Hardin counties.
For 50 years, Area Agency on Aging 3 has been helping older adults, people with disabilities, and their caregivers improve their quality of life in West Central Ohio. Through a variety of programs, the agency provides assistance with food and home care, transportation, and health education. Officials say when services are not directly available, the agency partners with other organizations to ensure individuals' needs are met.
For 30 years, Visit Greater Lima has worked to bring visitors to the region through tourism marketing efforts. In 2025, tourism generated a $145 million economic impact in the area due in part to its promotional work by the organization. Visit Greater Lima also gives back to local nonprofits, distributing more than $120,000 in grants to 11 organizations. Leaders say they are proud to serve as "cheerleaders" for Allen County and all it has to offer.
